Thinking in gallons

On the one hand, I'm glad our gas cost is finally catching up to the rest of the world so that we have to think in terms of abandoning Hummers and buying Smartcars.

On the other hand, it's a big bummer on a holiday like today when I have to calculate how many miles away my friends are, and if I can truly afford to reach them.

Remember when we used to just get in the car and DRIVE?

2008 is a milestone year we'll speak of in terms of before and after.

Ah how much we've all aged this year...

And the band played on as The Titanic sank.

You will need some catching up to do - if you want come on par with the UK petrol prices. As for those with hummers etc can no doubt afford the gas for their vehicles, so therefore if gas prices are put up to get at these owners - other drivers pockets suffer too.

The first time I heard of the Smart Car was when I read that novel by Dan Brown. Was that the Da Vinci Code?

The first time I actually saw a Smart Car was when I visited London (2006), then I saw Smart Cars in various European countries.

Last week I saw a Smart Car for the first time at a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station.

When I lived in Europe, I saw many small cars. Many people ride bicycles (Denmark).
