See, you CAN buy happiness...you just have to be delusional and naive. And what's up with that blonde hair on me?...Crack is Whack, people.

Really???? Wow, you're sharp JDC. Just took them off at midnight last night. The thing is, they hadn't moved forward since June. The rewrite process at UCLA is more complicated than that...Wendall doesn't have us actually revising until the seventh week of class. Until then, we're doing these amazing exercises and outlining our scripts over and over. Incredibly beneficial, but the bars were depressing. Also, it seemed like there was some derision about them in our screenwriting blogger community, especially by Those Receiving Paychecks for Writing. And the last thing I want is to seem like a hack.

Everybody want to weigh in on this?

And what about the jazzy new header? Took me forever. Another great exercise in procrastination.

JDC, what was the scoop on your Dead Zone experience with Piller? We want details!

Geez, I don't know...if industry people are telling you it's a waste of time, maybe it is. Depends on how long it would take you to finish it, and if it's preventing you from writing something else that could be more productive. If it's a quick process from here, I vote do it for the practice, if nothing else it's a great writing exercise.

See, I'm not the only workaholic.

New header? Where?...

[hits Back and looks at top of page -- feels like sterotypical unobservant male...]

...oh, yeah, great! Something that involved would've taken me at least 1.37 forevers (and not a few bursts of gamma irradiation...)

Kinda miss the progress bars, but if they weren't moving... [feeling embarassingly unobservant again...]

The header looks good.

The progress bars... eh. On my blog, it's really there for me as a reminder that I'd like to see it moving.

As far as a progress bar on your website hurting your career... anyone in a position to help your career, that is not a close friend, will more than likely not be reading your blog. Your blog will more likely be read by friends and fans... and both sets of demographics like to know how you're faring.

And is the Thunder the group, or is it what's "down under"... and if it's the latter, how do you find out if it's really thunderous, and not just... you know... bulgy? Or is that the "experience" part? You don't necessarily have to answer...

As far as the progress bars are concerned, I've never known what to think and still don't. However, the header is wonderful. As stated in another response, the photographic and illustrative versions of your family unit should be included as part of the Mom's Cancer book, even if it's not the cover. In fact, it may be even more effective as a back cover.

I don't know guys. Paul Guyot, Billy Mernit, Tim Albaugh, John Rogers are all industry screenwriters who read my blog and have commented kindly.

On the pro sites, not a writing progress bar to be found. But several discussions about the useless/ubiquitous nature of them. Even the coder, David Anaxagoras has pulled his down.

Maybe I should do some kind of weekly recap to let you know how it's going.

Glad you like the header. I'm proud.

The publisher is pulling out all the stops for the book; it's going to be cloth bound. Which will be beautiful. But no back cover.

The more I look at this picture, the more it just looks right. I think I'm a polygenist. No no, strike that, polygynist.

Gee no, my bad. It's poly·an·drist. Even if Websters.com doesn't bother to include it. Sexist fucktards.

My, isn't modern mating complicated?
