That's great. And as these trophies go -- it's not a bad-looking one (unlike the Tony Award)!

Whose the hot chick?

Funny, I thought the trophy felt right in my hands too.

I kept hearing fan-bitching about all the comics that have shit-writing. Anyone need a cute fangirl writer? Have an Eisner-awarded comic character around the workplace...

Is Mom's Cancer available on Amazon.com for pre-order as yet? I'll have to check on it.

Not yet...no news yet on the pblisher's site either. Frankly, I think they're botching that opportunity. Should be an announcement on the website by now about the award. And flyers on the freebie table at Comic-Con at the minimum. A booth would have been smarter.

I even had Hero pix to give away, but no one asked me...

Sis,
My publisher tried real hard to have some flyers to hand out at ComicCon, and busted their butts to get postcards printed and express-mailed to my hotel. I checked throughout the entire event and the hotel kept saying they hadn't arrived. I just learned today that they were there the whole time but, because some clerk in the hotel basement misspelled my name, they never got to me. We're all pretty mad about that.

Abrams is writing a press release and is mulling over some different ways to take advantage of the Eisner. I like these guys a lot and they seem to be on top of things, we just had a spot of bad luck at the con.

That's cool. I didn't say they were a bad publisher...but it is true that I don't have anywhere on their site or on Amazon to send my readers for info about your book, not even a placeholder or coming soon, and that there wasn't anything handed out at the con. For whatever reasons that's happened, I think it's a missed opportunity. The con interest is hard to replicate. My hits on this site have already dropped in half from the initial burst caused by the award. But whenever there is something for me to send people to besides me blabbing about you, I will be happy to do so. And I'm sure the readers will be thrilled. They've been asking if they could pre-order the books for months now.

Elizabeth,

Although I shot Brian an e-mail with my opinion on why a posting has not been posted on Amazon.com, I'll make the same point here. I think the Spring 2006 publication date of Mom's Cancer might be too broad to warrant posting as yet. What is their policy on that issue? Do you know. According to an e-mail today, Sue Grafton's S is for...(I've forgotten already! DAMN IT!) is due out in December. Then again it's very possible that your publisher DROPPED THE EFFING BALL that could cost them sales if not corrected soon. As an obsessive consumer of comics, I will track down Mom's Cancer any way I have to. For your sake, I hope that the publisher prints enough for the charitable donations you've spoken of here before.

Give Mom a hug for me. Bye for now.
