Gift From the Gods

I've officially bought the URL: http://www.KidSisInHollywood.com
If you've already blogrolled or otherwise linked to me, the blogspot will continue to work. But now whoever keeps looking my URL up on Google doesn't have to anymore!

Found these tidbits on The Rabbit Trail.

For you screenwriters: Treatment of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

For you comic/sci-fi geeks, here's a great article on Peter Lynds, the controversial college dropout whose time theory is being published. The human perception of time as a sequence of moments is just a neurological artifact, an outgrowth of the chunk-by-chunk way our brains perceive reality.

Mom's sugar levels have been all over the place this weekend, from 200 to 426. We're taking her to her regular doctor tomorrow, and hoping we can convince him to hospitalize her so that they can give her insulin to get it under control. The bonus is, then we could get her into the system and get her rehab, too. It's a good plan. Fingers crossed.

In the meantime if we find her in a diabetic coma, that wackadoodle Resident told us to slap some frosting in her mouth to bring her out of it. Fuckwit.

Thanks for the links! That's a fun read, especially after watching the movie. I love that it (Smiths) came from a student idea. It just goes to show that everything you write becomes a property, and can become a viable sale in the future.

I finished the First Act retool of Ozark Mile. I'm happy enough with it that I sent it to friends... not normal for me. Woo-hoo!

Yeah! What a mo-fo! Like Christina said.

(Though the frosting sounds good, actually.)

It's outrageous the way your mom was treated at ER. And I'm sure it wasn't the first time, and I know she isn't the only one. WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR GOV'T THAT THEY WON'T TRY TO FIX THIS SHIT?

Crappy interns, up for 48 hours at a stretch so they become DUMB enough to say something like that to you. What ELSE are missing, when they're made to work that long?

Not enough nurses, as Nurse Sis will surely attest, and the ones that are there are WAAAAY overworked and underpaid and burned out.

Our country's health system SUCKS. At least in developing countries you can PAY to go to a GOOD hospital that does things RIGHT. (I know. I've tried many systems. Not intentionally. You know.)

Sorry. It just pisses me off. I'm so sorry for your mom. I hope the regular doctor today can sort things out. Getting her in the system sounds like a good plan, given the alternatives... sucky-fucky all-night ER runs, frosting, and fucktard interns.

The health care system is messed up. And we only really find out the hard way. When you have to watch a loved one go through it, or you go through it yourself. I've seen first hand with my grandmother, and it can bring you to your knees. It's easy to feel powerless when facing that kind of BS. :( .. sigh... Real care only comes from informed family members and patients. Thank goodness your mom has you and Nurse Sis. We have to be our own advocates, or they will chew us up and spit us out. sad, isn't it?

But ~ congratulations on owning your url! That rocks. :)

Ugh. See new post above for the update.

Modigli, patient advocacy is the only way to survive. Totally frightening. And yes, the URL is cool.

NJC, glad you enjoyed the pitch! Congrats on the writing progress.

NN and Christina, on the bright side we get to use the word Fucktard a lot more thanks to the medical community.
