Math is still hard

My new hero:

A Politician in West Virginia tries to Ban Barbie

Lincoln County Delegate Jeff Eldridge has introduced legislation that would outlaw the sale of Barbie dolls in his state.

"I just hate the image that we give to our kids that if you're beautiful, you're beautiful and you don't have to be smart," Eldridge says, "and I'd like to send a message to not only our children but parents and educators that let's push education over the importance of beauty."

Ohhhhh Jeff. You are a spectacular human being!

If this legislation had come up when the economy was fine, then that'd be something. I'd say this is more of a distraction. C'mon, who worries about Barbie when the economy is in such dire straits?

I think a lot more than Barbie contribute to women feeling that they don't have to be smart. :)

He knows it's not going to pass. I would guess he's a pissed off dad trying to bring an important subject about women into the national discourse. And I appreciate him SO MUCH for that.

Wow - it will never pass but bless his heart for having the insight to even raise the issue. Generations of girls AND boys have been corrupted by the Barbie image. Enough is enough. Such images learned as children are extremely hard to shake as adults.

But then there are the Bratz dolls. It never ends.
