Hero Update

Pretty cute, eh? I think it looks just like him. This pic is Hero in his leaner puppy days:

Okay, so the prototype on the left is the first version, and the one on the right is the refined version that we're pretty much going with. A few minor changes.

The one big decision we have left is scarf color. Mom wanted yellow like the book, but Brenda's interested in lavender because it's the color of lung cancer awareness. Or a clear and gold that would cost more, but look better with the tie-in highscale Everybody Needs A Hero purse Cammie Hill is designing.

What do you think?

Aw, he is so cute!! I think a lot of people associate yellow with Lance Armstong's LiveStrong. Purple/lavender is the color of cancer awareness, and clear/white would be for lung cancer awareness, so it is really hard to decide what would be best.

I think the yellow really stands out with the black, but lavendar would be attaractive also. But lavendar is also considered more of a "feminine color" so the boys who are sick might not be so interested. So, I really want to say go with what your mom wanted.

By the way, I added your mom to the sidebar of Laurianne's Hope. I hope you and your siblings don't mind.

Oops! That was my other account. You probably figured that out though. ::blush::

Lynda, thanks for the correction on which color stands for which. Nurse sis did all the research and I kind of stood there with glazed eyes as she ran it all past me. (Which color represents overwhelmed and exhausted?) And I'm THRILLED mom's added to your amazing site.

I KNOW it's hard, right?

I get nervous about doing anything boys might not like, which is definitely purple, I'm a total cheapskate so I don't want to spend any more money on the clear and gold, but the yellow is sort of LArmstrong's territory, and personally it always grossed me out a little 'cuz it's the bandana gay men use to signal they like men to...oh, never mind.

Cripes man. Branding is tough work.

Geez, you know what about red?

And Lynne yes you're right, Mom wanted EVERYONE who had cancer to have one, not just lung cancer survivors.

I don't know. Guess we all have to go meditate on it and see who gets the fishie.

I got my info from another cancer awareness color site. I pretty much did it because my sister said purple was for cancer survivors and I wanted to wear purple. I wear both a purple HOPE and a yellow LiveStrong bracelet.

I had bought Calem a purple pacifier which I thought was very boylike, but my mom told me my sister thought it was a girl color. That is why I brought that up. I am sure with the right shade, it will be neutral.

These kinds of decisions are always hard. I hope that meditation helps!

Geez, what a confusing site! So many causes! I'm glad to see purple also represents irritable bowel, because I feel a bout of it coming on...

Hero is super cute. I like the refinement over the prototype. Looks just like him!

Lis, that is so funny! My sister and I use to joke about that. We even saw an irritated bowel syndrome convention one time. OK, not really, but it was a funny joke between us.

DD, so good to hear from you!

Lynda, she must have been whispering in my ear. That's so cool. And I totally cracked up when I read the bracelet hit Erin in the face the first time. Oh my god, that's so my family's type of humor.

Lynne, don't go calling yourself pathetic! Beautiful, talented, giving, insightful, yes!

Yeah, I kinda like red. I don't know how many people associate red with AIDS. For me, it's only a red ribbon, not the color in general. And the contrasting color would look sharp.

My family too! My brother said, "You hit Erin in the face!" like I did it on purpose, but we were all laughing.
