The Marginalization of Women

Go Oprah and Pink. Have to make sure my last drafts of "Pistoleras" bring this theme home.

And check out "Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture."

More on this critical, scary issue? South Park of course, Episode 812. Yes the entire episode:

Wow, good for her.

And I'm so glad you saw that episode.

Yeah, the pole dancing idea is the exact opposite of objectifying. Sheila has a great story about it in her S Factor newsletter that really explains it. I know it's hard to get because there's all these imitation classes at gyms where women are just stripping and shaking their ass instead of doing priestess temple dancing. That's exactly what Sheila and all her converts are trying to fight globally...

This meeting ends and another begins, say, at around 1pm. Some guy has a terrific idea for another reality show and they want to base it on the ‘S’. His idea is to have Pamela Anderson, Tommy Lee and Angelyne be the judges in the same vein as American Idol. Then he would recruit Maxim and FHM magazine models to compete in ‘S Factor’ empowerment classes with a ‘strip and pole off’ competition where all three judges weigh in and critique their ‘performances’. I have to tell them that we’re already doing a reality show with a very cool company. I tell him that it will be about empowerment and body celebration and how S Factor helps change women from the inside out and no, there won’t be any ‘strip off’. His eyes dull over at the mention of empowerment.

I do hope those girls got something out of Oprah. So sad that that's normal for them, all they've ever known. Urgh. Really struck me as "Oh crap, we're lost..."

I just got a vision of Pink as the Pistolera mama. Maybe the one recounting the fairy tale...

So scary how girls today don't get what's been fought for. I'll say I don't have a problem being someone's sex object...as long as I'm his brain object, his respect object, his inspiration object and his partnership object as well. ;)

Amen guys. That's why I'm proud to be single still. Gotta have all of the above to keep me interested.

Just watched that South Park. Pretty funny. One question. What the f*** was up with that frog at the end?
