It took a few months for thing to get serious. It was months after that for me to think about marrying her. I'd say it was a bit over a year before I went from first date to thinking about marriage. That's pretty quick in my opinion.
Ahhh interesting! Sounds healthy. Feels good to hear not every man knows immediately if they're in love or if she's a throwaway...
You could ask Kyle, I suppose!
I can say I'm envious of guys who married their childhood sweetheart knowing in their gut that she was the one for him. Its nice to think that there can be such a sureness about a relationship. Its certainly not the norm.
my wife went home after our first date and told her roommate i was the man she was going to marry....i went home and told a friend of mine i had an okay date with (what i thought at the time) a dumb blonde
three months later i broke it off because of an ex who was still hanging around the picture, four months after that i took her (the blonde) to my cousin's wedding as my date, and four months after that i was professing my love on a beach in puerto rico...and she's proven to be pretty freakin' smart, too!
Hahaha okay wow, these are helpful!
When I first met J, it wasn't so much that I knew she was "the one", it was more that I knew right away that there wasn't any obvious reason she couldn't be the one. My thoughts to myself were, "Oh, this is going to be ok." There were no head games, no weirdness, it all felt very comfortable and natural from day one.
My wife saw my comments on here and was hurt, and reading back through them I see why. When I said I thought our courtship was "quick", it was, but I came to my decision about her faster than I thought i would. I did not think it was possible to know, without a single doubt, that someone loved me in the amount of time we had been together, but there I was.
We've had a ton of ups and downs together, but for every time she makes me crazy there's five times as many times when I get reminded by how amazing she really is and how lucky I am to have her. That five times being a rough and conservative estimate. It's obviously more, but I can't find my abacus.
Love happens. Sometimes faster than we expect and sometimes it takes the long route. Its still worth fighting for, despite the ups and downs, and it took me a bit too long to realize that.
Awww...sorry your comment helping me hurt her feelings. I hope this lovely one helps her feel how special you think she is! :)
knew from the second date. even called an f-buddy in california and said, "this is the woman I'm going to marry. You're my witness." just knew. we went to a greek place in the west village for drinks before seeing an artfilm and a guy put money in the juke box and she we over to convince him to pick songs we liked...with his money! I was impressed.
I had a mental checklist in my head of what i wanted and when the person shows up with 80%, you make a decision. Why waste time? the other 20% will keep you interested.
